The tummy.

It is the hardest place to lose those pesky pounds. It is even harder to keep the weight at bay from your tummy once you’ve lost it. Recent studies are showing patients who undergo abdominoplasty – better known as a tummy tuck – are keeping the weight off and even losing weight long after their surgery.

Learn more about the long lasting benefits of the tummy tuck.

A recent study shows that patients who had a tummy tuck actually reported increased satiety. Satiety is the measure of how full you feel after a certain amount of food during a meal. A majority of patients during the study felt less hungry while also eating less after their tummy tuck procedure.

In addition to feeling fuller faster after a tummy tuck, the study showed that patients who had more fat removed with liposuction during their procedure continued to lose weight. The removal of fatty tissue, which can contain hormones that drive your appetite up, resulted in less of an appetite. The more fat removed during the procedure the more the patients reported feeling less of an appetite post surgery.

Tummy tuck procedures are not intended for weight loss but are for the contouring of your abdomen. A consultation with your physician about how a tummy tuck can help you assess if it is the right procedure for you.
