Enjoy the confidence that comes with having a nose that fits your face
Many people desire a nose that is more balanced with the rest of the facial features. That’s why rhinoplasty, a surgery to reshape the nose, is one of the most common of all plastic surgery procedures. Dr. Samaha is dedicated to achieving a result that looks more natural and less “surgical” with conservative, conscientious techniques.
What changes can I make to my nose?
Rhinoplasty is individualized to your unique goals. By adjusting his technique, Dr. Samaha can safely and successfully help you:
- Reduce or increase the size of your nose
- Change the shape of the tip or the bridge
- Narrow the span of the nostrils
- Change the angle between your nose and your upper lip.
- Correct a birth defect or injury
- Relieve some breathing problems
About Rhinoplasty Surgery
Nose surgery is usually performed using general anesthesia. However, in some cases, Dr. Samaha may be able to perform a rhinoplasty using a local anesthetic with sedation.
The two most common methods for rhinoplasty are open or closed procedures. Open procedures mean an incision is made outside of the nose, on the bottom side. In a closed rhinoplasty, Dr. Samaha would make an incision inside the nose. This is often the preferred treatment method, as their are no visible scars after surgery. However, an open rhinoplasty may yield the best results in certain patients. Dr. Samaha will make surgical recommendations based on your needs during your consultation. Before & After »
Through the chosen incision, Dr. Samaha will be able to access the structures of your nose, such as the cartilage, which gives your nose much of its shape. Dr. Samaha will reshape the cartilage and skin to achieved the desired aesthetic results. Finally, Dr. Samaha will close the incision and place surgical dressings over it. A splint may be placed on your nose to help it heal and protect it over the coming days.
Nose Surgery Aftercare
When you leave Dr. Samaha’s care following your nose surgery in Boston, you will need transportation from a friend or family member and help around the home for a short time. You may experience swelling following surgery, but this and any possible discomfort will be temporary.
As you heal, you will need to take care to limit your activity. It may be a week or so before you can return to work. You should also avoid activities that put your nose at risk for impact for several weeks. Once you have completed follow-up visits with Dr. Samaha, he will let you know when you can resume exercise and physical activities. Refining facial harmony with related procedures
Reshaping your nose can improve balance among your facial features, but certain patients find that combining rhinoplasty with other facial procedures best achieves their goals. Chin implants can add definition to a weak or receding chin, and neck liposuction can help refine the jawline for a more comprehensive improvement in facial harmony.
