Your Health and Skin Care Resolutions for 2010

Monday, December 21st, 2009

Before the New Year begins, we propose making a few promises to benefit your skin. skincare_resolutions

Without procrastination and without excuses, let’s resolve to take the following steps:

1: Gift yourself with a series of microdermabrasion treatments to soften fine lines and acne scars, minimize or eliminate sunspots, stimulate collagen production and give your face a youthful glow. Go every 2 weeks or so for a quick microdermabrasion session and reap the full benefits of more even, younger-looking skin.

2. Safeguard your investment in microdermabrasion treatments by scheduling touch-up sessions 2 or 3 months. A session only takes an hour, it’s relaxing and pleasant, and our skin will look younger and more radiant all year long.

3. Get serious about using sun block to protect your investment. Obagi makes a great one that won’t block pores, make the skin feel greasy or cause unwanted breakouts. Use it regularly according the directions; because you don’t want premature wrinkles, blotchy skin or an increased risk of skin cancer.

4. Let a professional aesthetician teach you how to use the right skin care products in the right order at the right times to keep your skin looking its best through the holiday season and beyond. Don’t cherry pick in the drug store; buying every trendy new product that comes along just because you like the packaging. Instead, pare down, simplify and do the right thing.

7 Plastic Surgery Safety Tips, Courtesy of CNN

Monday, December 14th, 2009

A recent article on CNN.com includes many useful safety tips  and guidelines for plastic and cosmetic surgery patients. Though we’ve organized them into a shorter format for easy reference, I recommend that you read the whole story on their website.

Don’t…….

Don’t seek out unapproved cosmetic procedures.

According to sources for CNN, Argentine beauty queen Solange Magnano, who died of complications from cosmetic surgery, requested silicone injections for a buttock augmentation – a procedure that is not approved here in the U.S. nor in Argentina. You should assume, in most cases, that such procedures are restricted by the FDA for a good reason.

Don’t be careless or take the process lightly.

When you walk into a plastic surgeon’s office, it may not “feel” like a hospital, but it’s definitely not a spa. Real surgeries are performed in your plastic surgeon’s suite, with real risks.

Do….

Research the procedure of interest.

Why Laser Hair Removal Should Be On Your Gift List

Monday, December 7th, 2009

This holiday season, instead of getting something, why not try getting rid of 583039something?

Yes ladies, it may be time to remove that “peach fuzz” from your face.  We don’t know where it comes from.  It just seems to appear. We wake up one morning, look in the mirror and realize that our peaches-and-cream-complexion had morphed into what looked like the peach itself – complete with a fine layer of fuzzy hair covering it.

Once you’re aware of it, on your face, you start paying more attention and notice that a lot of women have excess hair on their faces, especially as we get older.  Another small indignity of aging, right?  The hair on our head and brows thins over time and in return we get more … facial hair.

Cosmetic Surgery Tax: Online Poll

Tuesday, December 1st, 2009

The proposed tax on cosmetic procedures has been generating lots of buzz lately.  While plastic surgeons have basically been unanimous in voicing their opposition to the tax, others have expressed their support for the tax, saying that it may “nudge” talented plastic surgeons to work in other areas and perform urgently needed surgeries.

What do you think?
