Breast Augmentation

Saline and Silicone Breast Implants

Many women dream of fuller, shapelier, perkier breasts. Breast Augmentation, one of our most popular procedures, enhances the size and shape of the breasts.

Breast augmentation is for those who either want to look shapelier or want to balance two different size breasts. A wide array of technology is now available, including the popular "gummy bear" silicone implants and a variety of shapes and sizes.

With the FDA's approval of silicone gel implants, our patients now have unprecedented choices. Dr. Samaha has been an investigator for both Mentor and Inamed Adjunct Studies of gel-filled implants, and is therefore especially qualified to advise you on the special considerations involved with these implants, to help you make an informed choice. Should you decide on gel-filled implants, you would also benefit from Dr. Samaha's surgical experience with these implants over the past several years, helping you achieve optimal outcomes.

We are happy to discuss the pros and cons of saline- and gel-filled implants with you during your consultation.

During consultations, we make every effort to help our patients get a realistic idea of what they will look like after surgery. We incorporate personalized breast implant sizing to help our patients choose the optimal implant size. If the patient's breasts have fallen a great deal, a "nipple lift" or a full breast lift may be needed to achieve the optimal result.

The breast implant is inserted through an incision in the crease under the breast, at the edge of the areola, or at the armpit. The implant is then placed under the breast tissue or beneath the chest wall muscle. Incision scars are small and usually fade or disappear over time. We use the latest pain management techniques which can greatly reduce the postoperative pain that can sometimes be associated with this surgery. Many of our patients do not need to use any narcotic pain medications, thus avoiding potential side effects, and enjoying a quicker and more pleasant recovery.

The procedure is usually performed under local anesthesia with sedation, or under general anesthesia.

Dr. Samaha discusses the most commonly asked questions about breast implants and breast augmentaiton in these videos.
