When it comes to incisions for breast augmentation, there are several techniques that Dr. Samaha can utilize for the placement of implants.
Inframmary:
This common method is done beneath the breast, in the breast crease (also known as the inframmary fold). Since it is done in the shadow of the breast and follows the body’s natural contour, this type of incision provides a relatively inconspicuous scar. This incision also has the advantage of avoiding surgery through the breast tissues, and gives excellent control of the surgical field.
Transaxillary:
The transaxillary incision gets placed in the natural folds of the patient’s underarms. Dr. Samaha often uses a tiny camera called an endoscope to aid in this method. The scars in the underarm area are eventually inconspicuous and located away from the breast.
Areola:
An incision around the nipple will usually travel only halfway around the nipple and the scars will remain camouflaged by the natural color of the areola.
