In his Boston practice, plastic surgeon Fouad Samaha performs advanced liposuction techniques, like Tickle Liposuction, to help his patients rid specific areas of their bodies of stubborn fat deposits.
If You Are Considering Tickle Liposuction
For those considering liposuction, Tickle Liposuction, also known as Nutational Infrasonic Liposculpture can remove localized fat deposits more quickly than some other forms of liposuction, with minimal patient discomfort, decreased downtime and no risk for thermal burns.
Like other forms of liposuction, Tickle Lipo utilizes small tubes called cannulas to remove the fatty tissue beneath the skin. In Tickle Lipo these cannulas, activated by air pressure, vibrate and rotate beneath your skin's surface to more efficiently remove fat and cause less trauma to surrounding tissues. Given the advanced nature of this technique, fat removed may also be ideally used for fat grafting treatments. The tickling sensation some patients experience during the procedure is what led to the name Tickle Lipo.
As with other forms of liposuction, Tickle Lipo can be performed on many areas of the body to remove fat deposits and even works well when utilized near the skin's surface. In order to undergo the procedure with Dr. Samaha, you should be a healthy nonsmoker at a stable body weight and be able to weigh the benefits and risks of undergoing this type of surgical procedure.
What to Expect from Surgery
When you are ready to move forward with the surgery, you will be placed under a general anesthetic or a local anesthetic with sedation. The Tickle Lipo treatment takes anywhere from one to two hours to complete depending on the treatment area and the amount of fatty tissue to be removed.
To begin, Dr. Samaha will make small incisions in the treatment area and use the Tickle Lipo vibrating cannula to administer a tumescent fluid, which numbs the area and makes the fat easier to remove. Next, your plastic surgeon will use the cannula to suction out the troublesome fat.
Once complete with fat removal, Dr. Samaha will close the incisions with sutures and apply a dressing and surgical tape.
Tickle Liposuction Aftercare
After your procedure, you may wear a compression garment to aid in healing, but will be expected to walk shortly after surgery. Any discomfort may be managed with medication.
