We are thrilled to be one of the first plastic surgery practices in Boston to offer Motiva® breast implants – the latest FDA-approved silicone implant option for breast augmentation and breast implant exchange.
If you are considering breast augmentation or breast implant replacement, Motiva’s innovative design, natural feel, and advanced safety features may be the ideal choice to achieve your aesthetic goals.
What makes Motiva breast implants unique?
Motiva implants are engineered with cutting-edge technology to enhance both patient safety and cosmetic outcomes. Key features include:
1. Gel-Bonding Technology
Motiva’s TrueMonobloc® shell uses gel-bonding technology, allowing the implant shell and silicone gel to function as a single, cohesive unit. This improves resistance to rupture while giving the implants a smooth, natural look and feel.
2. BluSeal® Barrier Layer
Motiva’s BluSeal® acts as a visual safety indicator, allowing Dr. Samaha and Dr. Phelan to verify the integrity of the implants’ external and internal components before they are placed in the breast pocket.
3. Optional Microchip for Implant Tracking
If desired, Motiva implants can include a 12 mm microchip, known as Q Inside Safety Technology™ (QID), which can be easily scanned with a handheld reader after surgery to access implant information.
4. Micro-Textured Surface
Motiva implants feature a Smoothsilk micro-textured surface designed to enhance biocompatibility and reduce friction between the implant and surrounding tissue. This advanced technology has been shown to lower the risk of capsular contracture by minimizing bacterial adhesion and the body’s inflammatory and fibrotic response. The result is a more natural look and feel, with improved long-term outcomes.
5. Cohesive Silicone Filling
Motiva breast implants are filled with a highly cohesive, viscoelastic silicone gel that mimics the movement and softness of natural breast tissue. This gel also helps minimize the appearance of rippling, especially when placed sub-glandularly (over the chest muscle), where implant rippling can be more apparent.
6. Warranty Options
The Motiva® Health Program offers complementary implant replacement for qualifying complications and financial assistance for up to 10 years or the lifetime of the implants. Patients may also opt into Motiva® Health Program Plus, which provides extended coverage and greater financial support for revision procedures.
“Dr. Samaha and his staff are amazing; they treated me with great care and respect both during the initial consultation, during and post operatively. He listened to my concerns, answered all my questions honestly and made me feel confident and comfortable about my decision – I highly recommend Dr. Samaha to anyone considering any elective surgery. Dr. Samaha, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for all you have done! I look and feel amazing”
Results of Motiva Implants’ Clinical Trials
Backed by 14 years of clinical data, Motiva implants have demonstrated exceptionally low complication rates:
- 0.6% implant rupture rate
- 0.5% capsular contracture rate
- 0.9% infection rate
- No reported primary device-related incidence of BIA-ALCL
- 99% of surgeons and 97.1% of patients were satisfied with their outcomes
Types of Motiva Breast Implants Offered at Boston Plastic Surgery
Dr. Samaha and Dr. Phelan offer two types of Motiva implants at Boston Plastic Surgery, SmoothSilk® Round and SmoothSilk® Ergonomix®, each of which is ideal for different breast implant goals.
Motiva SmoothSilk® Round Implants
These implants are made with SmoothSilk® surface technology and filled with ProgressiveGel® PLUS®. These implants maintain their round, full shape as the body moves for consistent upper pole fullness. They are ideal for patients who are looking for a higher projection and volume.
Motiva SmoothSilk® Ergonomix® Implants
These implants also feature the SmoothSilk® surface, but are filled with ProgressiveGel® ULTIMA® silicone gel, which allows the implant to adapt its shape to body movement, much like natural breast tissue. They are ideal for patients who desire a natural-looking, gently sloped or “teardrop” silhouette when standing and a round contour when lying down.
During your consultation with Dr. Samaha or Dr. Phelan, you’ll be able to feel both implant types and discuss which one is best suited for your breast augmentation goals.
