Look younger—and more positive

Did you know that the upper 1/3 of your face is responsible for the majority of your facial expressions? For some, a drooping brow line, frown lines, heavy eyelids and wrinkling across the forehead create an unwanted tired or even angry look. We can perform a forehead lift, also called a brow lift, to correct this problem and rejuvenate the upper one-third of the face, creating a refreshed, more alert appearance.

What does a forehead lift correct?

  • drooping brow
  • excess upper eyelid skin
  • crow’s feet and brow furrows
  • misshapen brow

In a forehead lift, the muscles and tissues that cause furrowing or drooping are removed or altered to smooth the forehead, raise the eyebrows and minimize frown lines. Brow-lifts can be performed using an endoscope, a viewing instrument that allows the procedure to be performed with hidden, minimal incisions and invasiveness.

In your consultation, you will be asked about your aesthetic goals and craft a surgical plan to help you meet them. Our surgeons will also explain the surgery and how you will care for yourself afterwards.

The Brow Lift Procedure

The procedure is usually performed under local anesthesia with sedation, or under general anesthesia.

To begin, your surgeon will make a careful incision across the top of your head, where it will be easily hidden in your hairline. From this unique vantage point, we are able to access the tissues and underlying muscles of your forehead and brow area.

Using careful techniques, we will remove or mold the tissues and muscles of your brow for a smoother appearance. Once the desired effect has been achieved, your surgeon will close the incision with sutures, affixing the brow in a more youthful position. They will then cover the sutures with a surgical dressing.

Brow Lift Aftercare

When you leave after your procedure, you will need transportation as well as help around the home for a day or two. You may experience some swelling, but this is temporary. Any discomfort you feel may be managed with prescribed pain medication.

As you heal, you will need to care for the incisions and take caution when showering or washing your hair. You will need to limit your activity and you should expect that you may not return to work for at least one week. During this time, you will visit our office for follow-up visits. Your surgeon will let you know when you can resume your normal activities including exercise.

Once follow-up treatment has been completed for your forehead lift in Boston, you should witness the full effects of your surgery. Your brow should appear elevated to a more youthful position and signs of aging around your eyes will be greatly diminished.
